Good pair of World War I propaganda posters produced by the YMCA, includes: large partly-colored poster, 24" x 38", soliciting donations for the YMCA's "National War Work Council", to build shelters for U.S. troops in Europe. The poster gives numerous details listing the costs of constructing such homes and tallying their overall fundraising goal at $35,000,000, and is illustrated with large, detailed images of the interior and exterior of one of these barracks buildings. Shows some folds, else very good. WITH: a second partly-colored poster, 22" x 33 1/4", featuring a large monochrome portrait of Allied Expeditionary Forces commander John J. Pershing, above his quote: "A sense of obligation for the varied and useful service rendered to the army in France by the Y.M.C.A. prompts me to join in the appeal for its further financial support. I have opportunity to observe its operations, measure the quality of its personnel and mark its beneficial influence upon our troops, and I wish unreservedly to commend its work for the Army". The poster further bears the logo of the YMCA at top left, and advertises its "United War Work Campaign", Nov. 11-18, 1918. Shows some paper loss to the top left corner, with a few tears to the edges, and evenly toned overall, else very good. Two pieces.
