WORLD WAR I SOLDIER'S LETTER
A.L.S. by Sgt. F. W. Mitzler of the Army's Expeditionary Force, 4pp. 4to., "Clotting on the Morel", Germany, Mar. 20, 1919. Mitzler writes his sister Hattie just months before the war's end (in pencil): "...Well had a big time on the 18th, General Pershing received the 4th Divison over 40,000 soldiers were there and I had 36 trucks there 18 Packards and I send a box of lace for you let me know when you get it. I also send another hekmet the pipe in the helmet comes from Wefford County Ireland...on March 6th I had a good trip. The 3rd Army is running excursions on the Rhone river that are the same as on the Hudson river in N.Y...I am going to stay until the last, the supply train will be the last of the 4th Div to go home the 79th Div goes home the last week in June so all the boys will be home before me...Well I can't help that I am having my good dimes here in Germany...I am not broke yet but got darn near broke in Paris that is a wonderful city...It cost me over $150 the first two days I was there but I shure did live like a King...". With transmittal cover, light fading to first page, very good.
