WORLD WAR I FIELD EQUIPMENT
Balanced collection of nine World War I items, including: a U.S. Army cleaning kit for a .30 cal rifle, used for the P17 Enfield and Model 1903 Springfield rifles, complete with wooden handle and all three brass rod sections. Housed within original khaki case, 14 in. long, maker marked ‘MARBLE'S GLADSTONE, MICHIGAN, U.S.A.' with serial number ‘9728', bears additional maker mark ‘R.H. LONG' and dated ‘8-18'. Sold with a sharpening stone affixed to a wooden handle, 10 in. long; British whistle, maker marked on the reverse of the mouthpiece ‘J. HUDSON & CO. BIRMINGHAM 1915', suspended from a 28 in. long green lanyard; German watch case, maker marked ‘PRIMUS' on the face, still retaining leather strap. Case heavily oxidized; Brass trench lighter, maker marked ‘BOWERS MFG. CO. KALAMAZOO, MICH'. Suspended from a 28 in. long khaki lanyard; British felt lined brown leather case for a compass, 3.5 x 4 in., with a leather strap to hold it closed; German watch case, maker marked ‘PRIMUS' on the face, with a sterling silver chain. Some oxidation to the reverse, else in very good condition; British whistle, maker marked ‘A. DE. COUROY & CO. FRANKFORT ST. BIRMINGHAM 1916', still with brown leather strap; and a World War I Beacon Army light case, lacking the bulb. Nine pieces, very good.

Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
