WOODROW WILSON
(1856 - 1924) Twenty-eighth President of the United States who passed sweeping reform laws, gave women the right to vote, and led the United States through World War I setting the ground work for the League of Nations. Partly-printed D.S., 1p. folio, Washington, May 10, 1916, appointing Frederic R. Dolbeare to serve as 'Secretary of Embassy or legation Class three'. Co-signed by Secretary of State ROBERT LANSING (1864-1928), American lawyer and diplomat, who served as Secretary of State for most of Woodrow Wilson's terms. Dolbeare would mainly serve in Europe through his tenure in office. Unevenly toned from previous framing, tape stains about the margins, and folds but with fine, dark signatures.
