WINFIELD SCOTT
(1786 - 1866) American general, a hero during the War of 1812. Commanded the U.S. Army from 1841 through the Mexican and Civil Wars. A presidential candidate in 1852. War-date manuscript L.S., 1p. 4to., Washington, Oct. 22, 1961, a pass issued to William Schley through the lines in western Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia with his family, along with "five colored servants". Sold with the transmittal envelope franked and with added rank (soiled). Two signed items.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas), DHL or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
