Description:

A fine Winchester Model 42 pump-action shotgun twin set, .410 bore, featuring two barrels, the first 26 in. long, marked "Mod.", and the second 28 in. long, marked "Skeet". The receiver is unmarked but for a "WP" proof mark at the top just behind the barrel mount, and the serial number "93375" at the bottom, again behind the barrel mount. This serial number dates the gun to 1950. The receiver is blued overall, showing only the faintest traces of wear just behind the ejection port. The walnut stock is finely checked at the wrist, with a black composite cap at the base of the wrist marked "Winchester Repeating Arms Company". A brown rubber recoil pad, also marked "Winchester", is fitted to the butt. The trigger guard still features an Olin Industries-era hang tag. Both barrels are marked on the left-hand side: "Winchester Trademark - Model 42 - 410 - 3 In. Cham.", with Made in New Haven, Conn U.S. of America" over "Winchester Proof Steel", and with a "WP" proof mark. Each barrel also bears the serial number on the bottom just before the mount, and is fitted with a rib along the top, mounted with a bead front sight. Each bore is in pristine condition, and each barrel shows minor wear to the operating rod, mounting lugs and magazine tube, while the wood furniture shows a few faint handling marks. NRA grade excellent overall. The shotgun is housed in a custom-fitted Winchester case bearing their label inside the lid, and also containing a 1960's-era oil bottle and reproduction instruction booklet.
