WOODROW WILSON (1856-1924) Twenty-eighth President of the United States who passed sweeping reform laws, gave women the right to vote, and led the United States through World War I setting the ground work for the League of Nations. Scarce D.S. "Woodrow Wilson" as President, 1p. 8" x 3", Philadelphia, May 1, 1918, a check signed by one J.D. Blackwood made payable to Wilson. On the verso, Wilson endorses the check with an additional typed notation that the sum is to be deposited with the Treasurer of the United States. Matted with a T.L.S. on White House letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington, May 3, 1918 thanking the man for his generous response to the `buy-another-bond' movement, signed by Wilson's aid, J.P. TUMULTY. Both items are set into a period mat and frame, overall very good.$300-400
