Description:

(1723 - 1790) American Revolutionary soldier and politician, he served as a brigadier general until his election as Governor of New Jersey and as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention, he signed the Constitution. Fine association manuscript D.S. 'Wil: Livingston' as Governor of New Jersey, 2pp. 11 x 16 in., [n.p.], Dec. 1, 1787, an indenture in which Livingston sells for 1,000 pounds three tracts of land to HENRY BROCKHOLST LIVINGSTONE (1757-1823), Revolutionary War officer and eventually an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Livingston signs at the lower fold of the three joined documents. HENRY BROCKHOLST LIVINGSTONE has also added two A.D.S.s to the verso, in 1788 and 1789, each indicating that William Livingstone has paid 70 pounds interest for interest due on one of the properties' mortgages. Folds, very good.
