Hooper , 1p. oblong 8vo., Bowan County, [ 1768], a legal document setting forth a verdict of horse thie very against a man. In part: ...The Jurors for our Sovereign Lord the King upon their oath present that James McLehan... with force and arms... one mare of a bay color... feloniously did steal, take and lead away against the peace of our said Lord the King. Damping of left quarter of document has caused a small stain and some slight lightening of text, which still remains completely legible, signature not affected.
