Description:

William Henry Harrison 1773-1841) Ninth President of the United States, military hero at Tippecanoe Creek and against Tecumseh, died after one month in office. An exceedingly rare signed book from Harrison's library, the economic treatise An Inquiry Into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of nations by Adam Smith, possible first American edition, Thomas Dobson, Philadelphia, 1789, Volume Ii. The book is signed Wm. H. Harrison in brown ink at upper right of the title page, and the signature is most distinct. Front cover is a bit loose, with wear and light toning to text as would be expected. A great rarity in this form, and fme association, especially since Harrison won office through attacks on Van Buren's economic policies. E55000-7000
