WILLIAM HEATH (1737 - 1814) American Revolutionary officer, a major general in the Continental Army reprimanded by Washington for his handling of the attack on Fort Independence, later commanding the Eastern Department and in the Hudson Valley. A.D.S. as maj. genl., 1p. 4to., Boston, Apr. 3, 1778, directing Ebenezer Hancock, Postmaster General to the Forces of the United States, to pay Israel Keith, Adjt. Gen. of the Eastern Department his pay of $300. Toned folds, rough margins, overall very good.
