(1857 - 1930) Twenty-seventh President of the United States and Supreme Court Chief Justice. T.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 2pp. 8vo., New Haven, [n.d.]. Taft declines an offer to stay with his correspondent, but will dine with him. He adds: "...I must cut out the Rotarians. I can't do anything of that kind on this trip. I have been flooded with invitations...Had I yielded I would have broken down...I must husband my throat power...". Light soiling, file holes at margins, else very good.
