(1875 - 1959) American admiral and Chief of Staff to Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry Truman. Early fine content T.L.S. on Navy Bureau of Ordnance letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington, May 7, 1930 to the Aerial Club of America. Leahy praises Robert Byrd, who had served under Leahy, for his accomplishments in the Arctic and Antarctic. In part: "...Navigating airships to Europe, to the two poles of the earth, and polar explorations of almost unbelievable extant have brought him the plaudits and the affection of America...unsurmountable difficulties and cruel disappointments...would have discouraged any less dauntless spirit...Richard Byrd is an organizer of superlative attainments...he can make a success of any project...". File holes at top, else very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
