Description:

(b. 1908) Career military officer from World War II until the 1960s, served as Executive Officer of Artillery within the VII Corps of the First Army Division just after D-Day. His final military position was as Deputy Commanding General of the Third Army Division between 1964 to 1966. His U.S. Army, White Color, Mess Dress Uniform, similar in style to the 1938 Pattern yet with a different number of buttons on the front. The shoulders bear two beautifully aged, gold bullion Officer's epaulettes found on each shoulder and which are matching. They are of the screw-down type which is proper, and they are made out of the correct material for the period. As is very common, these epaulettes are backed in black color wool cloth. The sleeves are covered in white general's lace/braid of the proper width and type, and found sewn above the general's cuff braids are Bullock's two General's stars of the proper color and material. The lining is of the full body type and looks marvelous, free of tears and loose threads, with just a small area of staining around one of the inside tailor's tags. A tag within one interior pocket reads 'Lautenstein's, Uniforms of Distinction, San Antonio' and was filled in with the name and date: "Wm. Bullock" and "6-19-65". As a final embellishment, and great additional proof of provenance, a tag with General Bullock's personal name monogram has been sewn above an interior pocket. Sold with a pair of general's trousers, constructed of black wool and of proper cut and style, including the proper two gold braid general's stripes running down each leg. Fine condition overall. From a major private collection on public display.
