Fine gathering of the signatures of seven prominent British justices of the mid-to-late 1700s on a 2.75 x 6.25 in. section of parchment cut from a larger document. Notable among the signers is WILLIAM BLACKSTONE (1723-1780), English jurist, judge and Tory politician, remembered for writing the 'Commentaries on the Laws of England' as well as other legal treatises which greatly influenced Alexander Hamilton, John Marshall, James Wilson, John Jay, John Adams, James Kent and Abraham Lincoln, and remain frequently cited in Supreme Court decisions. Also signed by: CHARLES PRATT (1713-1794), Lord Chancellor of England; GEORGE PERROT (1710-1780), Baron of the Exchequer; JOSEPH YATES (1722-1770), Judge of the King's Bench; RICHARD ASTON (1717-1778), Chief Justice of Common Pleas, Ireland; JAMES HEWITT (1712-1789), Lord Chancellor of Ireland, EDWARD WILLES (1726-1787), Judge of Common Pleas.
