Lot of four A.L.S.s signed variously "Will" and "Uncle Bill", one letter illustrated, 10pp. total, 8vo., Los Angeles and Hollywood, 1938-40, to his sister and her young children. In part: "...I have a friend here whi is interested in cattle brands and has a collection of over 600 branding irons...he has burned them in miniature on several bill folds and I got him to make one for you...The first two rows are Texas...12 brands to each row. It was a lot of work for him [Crawford adds two sketches of the wallet]...Lots of trout, coons, white tail deer and mountain lions. There is a bounty on the lions but it pays most to catch them alive...and selling them to circuses and menageries in the east...I can't send the rattlesnake skin yet because I am waiting to send something else in the bundle...I would rather see you than anything in the world...Tell him not to grow up so fast he forgets Uncle Bill...I am on my own with the museum work...went to a 'graduation' finish of a study in Marxism...She and Charlie deep in the movement...". Fine.
