Description:

(1898 - 1984) German officer, war reporter, and military writer during World War II, commissioned to write the 'Wehrmachtbericht' ('Wehrmacht Report') broadcast, which provided updates on military operations as an instrument of National Socialist propaganda. Great association T.L.S on the verso of a Luftpost envelope, 1p. 4to., Prien/Chiemsee, June 12, 1960, to an American researcher in German. Largely untranslated, yet notably reads in part: 'I have some pictures of Normandy in 1944, where I was a war reporter with Rommel, and pictures of him on his trips to the front. Would you be interested?' Very good. Sold with a commercial 5 x 3.25 in. photograph of Rommel visiting Normandy in Spring of 1944, as mentioned above, bearing Schramm's publication stamp and an identifying inscription by him on the verso.
