WILHELM II (1859 - 1941)"Kaiser Wilhelm", Emperor of Germany and King of Prussia, a socially progressive ruler whose reign ended with Germany's defeat in World War I. Handsome S.P. 7" x 9" b/w, showing the Kaiser in his later years, reading a newspaper. Signed at bottom margin in his typical purple pencil: "Wilhelm". Fine condition. Along with a brief T.L.S. by his second wife HERMINE, PRINCESS OF REUSS, on black-bordered mourning letterhead, 1p. 8vo., July 24, 1941, thanking the recipient for the "...kind sympathy...The death of the beloved Emperor is a cruel loss for us all...".
