Description:

WILHELM II 'KAISERPREIS' DRINKING HORN
A stunning presentation piece, a heavily ornamented bull's horn 'drinking horn' presented as a 'Kaiser Preis' in a yachting regatta on the Wannsee in 1902. The horn itself measures approx. 24 in. long and is mounted atop a bronze stand, supported by a mermaid on choppy seas, which in turn is supported by three winged seahorses. The horn bears three ornamented sections, at the tip, the central supporting band, at at the top. The top is engraved: 'Kaiserpreis R - Wannsee 1902' with a facsimile of Kaiser Wilhelm's signature and a Prussian crown affixed thereto. The entire presentation stands 15 in. tall. A very impressive piece, displaying only some tarnish and light oxidation in places. An international boat race took place in July, 1902, on the River Lee in Cork - this trophy may have been awarded in trials leading up to that competition.
