Description:

WILHELM FRICK
(1877 - 1946) Nazi Minister of the Interior, author of the Nuremberg Laws. Hanged at Nuremberg for his crimes. A.L.S. 'Frick', 1p. 4to., Nuremberg, Oct. 22, 1945, a request for legal representation made to the General Secretary of the International Military Tribunal. In part: '...As a supplement to the request I made on 20 Oct 45 concerning retaining of R.A. von Scanzoni in Munich as my defense counsel, in the event that Scanzoni is hindered in any way from taking the case, I should like to retain Dr. J. R. Viereck, Berlin, whose name also appears on the list....' Mounted to heavy stock, very good. In the end, Frick would be defended by Dr. Otto Pannenbecker, later a centrist politician. This document originates from the files of Hans Werner, Director of Printing for the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg. It was his task to publish the 42-volume record of the trial using this document and scores of others. Following completion of his task, Werner was permitted to retain possession of the documents, which were never tagged as evidence. They were then sold by autograph expert Charles Hamilton in his auctions, in 1979.
