Description:

WHITE BULL
(1849 - 1947) Sioux Indian, the nephew of Sitting Bull, and a famous warrior in his own right. White Bull participated in the Battle of the Little Bighorn and was rumored to have killed Gen. George A. Custer. Others claim that White Bull only admitted to struggling with Custer. Rare A.L.S. signed "White Bull" twice, 2pp/ legal folio, "Pine Ridge Agency", Aug. 8, 1916 to a Dan Frost. In part: "...I know you are a good man I know you are good for everybody thats reason I didn''t afraid to write to you in the year 1894 that I was with the show in Buffalo Bill...I know that we Indians are want everything that you had now...I want to know which way or how you tell me how I going send the money to you and you get all right straight...that is you get the money all right and I get the things all right if you can sent me the same kind of this iron beats...and this small bones what we call in Indian and them furs that we wear...please I am your Indian friend. I shake hands with you with this letter..." He signs, adding his signature again when he notes his address. We presume his "iron beats" to be "beads", while "small bones" is lost on us. A bit rough in condition, with fold splits and some soiling, still entirely acceptable.
