WESTERN MISSIONARIES IN CHINA
Good group of 22 signatures and two letters, all executed by nineteenth- and twentieth-century Western missionaries, primarily British and American, in China. Includes: ROBERT MATEER (1853-1921), A.L.S. "R.M. Mateer", 4pp. 8vo., near Honolulu, Aug. 21, 1910, to a Dr. Speer, on the letterhead of the Japanese ship TENYO MARU, Mateer asks his recipient to read over and write a review of his memoir of his time in China; and FREDERICK HOWARD TAYLOR (1862-1946), T.L.S., 1pp. 8vo., Philadelphia, Nov. 7, 1935, to Catherine Scrimgeour, Taylor thanks his correspondent for her previous letter and a photograph of Mount Horeb. The signatures, of which twenty have been cut from letters and two executed on cards, include: GERALDINE TAYLOR (1865-1949); STEPHEN L. HUNT (1816-1878); J.W. LOWRIE; AMELIA LOWRIE; and SAMUEL E. MEADE (1845-1937). Some signatures bear mounting remnants on the verso, else very good.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
