WEHRPASS FOR A FALLSCHIRMJAGER WHO FOUGHT IN NORMANDY
Excellent content German soldier's Luftwaffe wehrpass, issued to winemaker Albert Dahm of Koblenz, born in 1905. Dahm, eventually promoted to corporal, was drafted on Feb. 29, 1940. He first served in in an anti-aircraft battery until December, 1942 when he was transferred to a headquarters staff and in the western zone from July 26, 1943, on. On Nov. 19, 1943 he was assigned to the headquarters staff of the 2nd Parachute Corps and from D-Day until Aug. 31, 1944 he was at the front in Normandy. On Sep. 1, 1944 he was sent back to Germany, and thereafter his fate is unknown. We do know that the corps was almost completely annihilated while fighting in the Falaise Pocket during the Battle for Normandy. The II Fallschirmkorps was later refitted with replacement troops provided by Fallschirm-Jager-Ersatz-Battalion 2 and sent to aid the 1st Fallschirm-Armee until the surrender.
