Description:

Named Wehrmacht medical officer's visor cap, constructed of green wool with blue piping denoting the owner's service in the medical branch of the army. Silver wreath, national cockade and eagle with swastika insignia, are all in hand embroidered bullion, and sewn to the front of the cap. Noticeable crack to the right side of the black vulkan visor which has been repaired. Lacking the interal leather sweatband, the interior crown bears the maker's stamp of E. Baymann in Dusseldorf, along with a tag designating the owner as ‘Dr. Fr. Putt' with the size '57 ½'. The lining has torn away in a few places and shows signs field repairs. This is a truly authentic and salty visor cap, that looks like is was being used like a crusher cap. Our consignor has told us that this piece was gifted to his father, by a German Army doctor, that he befriended him during occupational duty in 1945-46, along with the stunning Medical Waffenrock that is also being offered in this auction.
