Description:

Fine Wehrmacht dress bayonet, 7 ¾" blade, 12 ½" overall, with a silver-finished bird's head-style pommel fitted with a functional release catch, and with a red felt insert within the guide groove. The grips are staghorn, with a turned-down teardrop-shaped crossguard topped with a brown leather washer. The pommel and crossguard shows some wear to the finish and minor scratches. Unusually, the plated blade is engraved "Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit" (""To Remember my Time of Service"), while the reverse ricasso bears the "lobster" maker's mark of Carl Julius Krebs of Solingen. The blade shows minor run marks and one spot of slight pitting near the point. The bayonet is housed in a black-painted steel scabbard, showing some wear and scratches overall, with a black leather frog secured by a stud. The frog is fitted with a braided white portapee with woven red stem and a white brocade flat cord, bearing a white woven slider. This portapee is evenly toned overall. In very good condition overall.
