Description:

Original Wehrmacht photo album, 40pp. oblong 4to., completely filled with 114 b/w photographs and snapshots, most 2 ½" x 3 ½" and smaller. The front cover bears a national eagle with the title "3. Battr.-Art.-Rgt. 63", and numerous photos within also indicate that the album was owned by an artilleryman. The album opens with printed pages featuring images of Hitler, Walther von Brauchitsch, Ernst Raeder and Hermann Goering as commanders of the Heer, Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe. The first album page bears a postcard photo of a young, unnamed soldier, likely the owner. The remainder of the album contains numerous views of artillery pieces and their crews performing drills, maintenance, and in action on the Eastern Front. Additional views show ruined towns, rifle drills, German graves, soldiers at rest, pontoon bridges, and more. Several images are loose or detached from the page, else very good. Also present is a second "fotofolio" album featuring approx. 100 b/w photos and snapshots, primarily depicting wartime and post-war civilian life in Germany, but with several views of ruined buildings, a Wehrmacht soldier who appears to be the same individual depicted in the first album described above, and an NSDAP wedding. Worthy of further examination. Very good. Two pieces.
