RICHARD KLEINDIENST (1923-2000) U.S. Attorney General during the early stages of the Watergate scandal. Kleindienst did not share with FBI investigators or his department's prosecutor G. Gordon Liddy's confession of his own involvement or Liddy's claim that John Mitchell was seeking his assistance to obstruct justice. Resigned mid-year. Bold signature on a photocopy souvenir of Kleindienst's April 15, 1973 ‘Exhibit No. 145' directed to Henry E. Petersen and measuring 5.5 x 6.25 in. It reads, in small part: ‘…In view of the information which you, Harold Titus, and Earl Silbert furnished to me at my home between 1:00 A.M. and 4:30 A.M., this date…I hereby recuse myself…I hereby direct you to be responsible in these matters as if you were the attorney general'. Fine.
