(1931 - 2012) American attorney and political advisor who served as Special Counsel to President Nixon from 1969 to 1970, one of the Watergate Seven who also plead guilty to obstruction of justice for attempting to defame Pentagon Papers defendant Daniel Ellsberg. T.L.S. as Special Counsel to the President on White House letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington, Nov. 25, 1970, to JOSEPH CURRAN (1906-1981), a merchant seaman and an American labor leader. He was founding president of the National Maritime Union from 1937 to 1973, and a vice president of the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO).
