( Washingtons Inauguration) An excellent newspaper account of the arrival of George Washington and John Adams in New York to be inaugurated as the first President and Vice President, as reported in the Independent Chronicle and The Universal Advertiser, Boston, Apr. 30, 1789, 4pp. The second page report describes the Presidential Barge, federal salutes fired, and ceremonies and processions accompanying the arrival of both Washington and Adams independently. Also printed is a song Ode Sung on the Arrival of the President of the United States , with a front page report on Congressional proceedings. More local and national news, with period advertisements for negroe servitude. Small piece lost from back page advertisement closely cut on right not affecting relevant text, otherwise quite good.
