264. GEORGE WASHINGTON A small slip of paper bearing two words in Washington's hand: "hundred and". Taken from an indenture from Mar. 22, 1769, in which Washington disperses land to a William Peterson. Copy of the original document included showing line from which the words originate. Along with a neat Washington relic, a silk Centennial badge from 1832 honoring the birth of George Washington. The badge bears an engraving of Washington and is housed in a small ornate vintage oval gilt frame. Dimensions not known, but a 3" x 2" portion of the badge is shown. Finally, this lot includes three invitations from Washington inviting people to dinner, penned in a secretarial hand on three separate small sheets. Framed simply in double-glass, very good.
