(War Of 1812 Good content pair of A.L.S.'s, possibly retained copies 4pp. sm. folio, Shepardstown, Jan. 11 and Feb. 19, 1815 Army officer J. Kearsley writes that the terms of the treaty of peace with Great Britain [Treaty of Ghent] are not yet known and offers his views as to why the peace terms have not been published. He writes further of his severe wound and that his stump [amputation] has not yet begun to heal. He describes his appointment to assistant adjutant general, closing "... illuminations and salutes were the order yesterday.. Tipped to a larger sheet.
