Description:

WALTHER VON BRAUCHITSCH
(1881 - 1948) German field marshal and commander in chief who formally led the campaigns against Greece, France, Poland and the USSR. Fine content signed retained copy of a T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Berlin, Oct. 19, 1938, most likely to Reichsprotektor KONMSTANTIN VON NEURATH (1873-1956) who was until then leading the civil administration of the occupied Sudetenland. He writes, in part: '...On 20 October 1938 responsibility for the administration of the occupied Sudeten territory passed to Reich Commissioner Konrad Henlein and the authorities designated for this purpose. This marks the end of your civil administration activity as head of the group....I don't want to let the opportunity pass without expressing my special thanks for your valuable support. I am pleased that the task assigned to the Armies by the Fuhrer and Reich Chancellor...somewhat more remote from us soldiers, could be fulfilled...' Light folds, small paperclip stain at upper-left, else very good. KONRAD HENLEIN (1898-1945) was appointed Gauleiter of the Sudetenland and became an SS-Obergruppenfuhrer. Henlein assured that nonm-German Czech were sidelined and persecuted, and assured that Czech Jews were delivered to the Germans for liquidation.
