Description:

(1890 - 1960) Nazi Minister of Economics who confiscated goods of imprisoned Jews to the Reichsbank via Himmler. Sentenced to life imprisonment. Fine association A.L.S. on his Reichsminister letterhead, 4pp. 4to., Nuremberg, Sep. 11 [n.y.], to FRITZ WIEDEMANN (1891-1970), Hitler's adjutant until January 1939. In part: '...Yesterday, I once again talked in detail with Generalfeldmarschall Goering about my trip to the Balkans. Field Marshal Goering is of the opinion that this trip, which has been prepared politically and theoretically for months, is of great importance, not just in economic policy, but even more politically, especially in the present moment. The overwhelming economic importance of the southeast European economic area for the import of certain vital goods is well known. Now the English and the French are working against us, unfortunately not without success. The psychology of war is added and used cleverly. We will soon start new important negotiations with Yugoslavia, where the terrain has already become more difficult due to the described circumstances. It is the same in Bulgaria. The Turks have assured me through the Ambassador in Nurnberg that they want to mitigate the visit of the French Foreign Minister Bonnet before my visit by concluding the 150 million loan I have proposed by strongly emphasizing my visit. In Turkey, among other things, the orders for the Dardanelles fortification come into question...We are now putting pressure on the Romanians in view of their record crop for oil deliveries...Please also inform the Fuhrer that I have made all the preparations...' File holes costing a few letters of text, else very good.
