Description:

(1895 - 1980) German rocket engineer who developed the infamous V-2 for the Nazis. After the war he came to the United States and conducted research for Bell Aircraft. His extremely important biography: ‘V-2' (New York: The Viking Press), 1955. 281pp. green boards with silver title, dust jacket included. Signed on the half-title page in blue ink, adding ‘Major General (Vet.) Buffalo, March 10, 1958. In this book, Dornberger describes the technical history of the development of the V-2 with full details of problems encountered, the solutions that were tried, and the final resolutions. He also recounts the accomplishments of certain staff members, including Werner von Braun, as well as his meetings with prominent Nazis, including Adolf Hitler, Heinrich Himmler, Hermann Goering, and Hans Kammler. The top of the pages bear a red top, else very good to fine condition with light chipping to the dust jacket.
