Description:

WALT DISNEY
(1901 - 1966) American artist, film producer and businessman, creator of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, producer of the first animated film with sound, builder of theme parks in Anaheim and Orlando. Fine T.L.S. on Walt Disney letterhead, 1p., 4to., Burbank, September 25, 1958, a response to the artist Duncan Gleason's request for Disney to appear at the 11th Annual Tri-Club Exhibition in Los Angeles. In part: "...This is quite a cultural event for our local community and I regret very much that, because I will be out of town on that date, I will be unable to attend. I certainly wish the three participating Art Clubs and the artists themselves every success...". Boldly signed with a unique flourish, "Walt Disney" in blue ink. Fine. Included with the lot is Duncan Gleason's (unsigned) typed letter to Disney, prompting the reply. The two are matted together with a picture of Disney and a representation of his famous character-- Mickey Mouse-- in between, all in a 23" x 30" frame.
