WADE HAMPTON
(1819 - 1902) Confederate lieutenant general of cavalry whose daring exploits at Antietam, Gettysburg, and Petersburg won him fame in both North and South. War date A.E.S. on a small slip, removed from a larger document, "Hd Qrs Cavalry 24 March 1865" and writes in full: "Resp'ly forwarded See Majr Genl Wheeler's remarks. Wade Hampton Lieut Genl.". Signature and text a tad light but still quite legible, one vertical fold, otherwise very good. Matted and framed with a carte-de-visite portrait of Hampton, half-length in uniform. Not examined out of frame.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
