Voltaire 1694-1778 French writer, an expert satirist whose work twice landed him in the Bastille. his works include Zadig, Candide, and the great historical work Le Siecle de Louis XIV. L.S. 1p. 8vo.,. Paris, Jan. 1, 1776 to Monsieur Fabri, a knight of the king. The great author mentions that He has received a letter from a military officer clearing up some type of difficulty, and discusses the establishment of an office at Longerey. Voltaire concludes the letter wishing his friend the best, adding: I hope that the new year is as happy for you as for the country.
