Good content group of six manuscript documents, all pertainign to the efforts of Ann C. Included is a certification of Wood''s having taken an oath of allegiance in Petersburg; various conflicting statements by local government officials and Union officers as to the current disposition of two structures on her property, one apparently partially occupied; a certified copy of her original deed, and two A.E.S.s of Maj. Gen. GEORGE L. HARTSUFF (1830-1874) penned on the verso of statements by Union officers ordering that one house be turned over to Wood and that the other structure be given to the Freedmen''s Bureau. Also included are two early deeds showing the Wood Family''s ownership of the properties. Very good. Gen. Hartsuff had been severely wounded at Sharpsburg and recovered to direct forces at the siege of Petersburg between the James and Appomattox rivers.
