Description:

VIKTOR LUTZE
(1890 - 1943) Gauleiter of the Ruhr and an early Hitler associate, Chief of Staff of the SA following Rohm's death until his own end in an automobile accident. Exceptional oversize S.P. "Viktor Lutze 19.3.1938", 14" x 19" (sight), b/w, an impressive image of the man who betrayed Ernst Rohm, showing him from mid-chest, up with insignia and medals in sharp detail, signed across his cheat with fair to good contrast. Set into a rather simple period frame with original glass. Near fine. This image was signed only a week after the annexation of Austria - Lutze would soon travel there to organize the S.A., and later return to Germany to lead the S.A. during Kristallnacht in November, 1938. An impressive piece.
