(1869 - 1947) King of Italy who essentially served as a figurehead during Mussolini's administration, he abdicated the throne following the end of World War II. Partially-printed war date manuscript D.S., 1p. legal folio, Rome, June 19, 1941, a letter to Ante Pavelic (1889-1959) Croatian dictator, founder of the fascist regime Ustase that governed the Independent State of Croatia from 1941-1945 with the help of Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy, appointing an Italian ambassador to Croatia. In part: '...In the desire to consolidate the solid relations of friendship happily existing with the Kingdom of Croatia, we have disposed to accredit to you as our extraordinary envoy...Raffaele Casertano....The valuable qualities that distinguish this diplomat, the zeal of which he has given constant proofs assures us that he in fulfillment of his lofty mission will continue to deserve your approval and esteem...' Included with the original mailing envelope and intact seal. Fine condition. Co-signed by GALEAZZO CIANO (1903-1944), Italian politician and son-in-law of Benito Mussolini, Minister of Foreign Affairs who later helped force Mussolini's resignation. Executed by the Nazis and fascist sympathizers. This letter comes from a vast collection of historical documents compiled by a Croatian historian and author.

Shipments are sent via FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option. Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
