USS PUEBLO LLOYD BUCHER (1927-2004) American Navy officer and captain of the USS Pueblo which was captured on January 23, 1968 by the North Koreans. Bucher and his crew remained captives, tortured and starved, for 11 months. D.S., a check drawn on his account, Poway, Ca., June 11, 1999 making a $99.00 payment to the conservative magazine, The National Review, boldly signed. Beautifully matted with a photo of Bucher in uniform, an envelope commemorating his ship (which is to this day commissioned), and brass descriptive plaque, all set into a gilt wood frame.
