UNITED STATES NAVY MARK I TRAINING BAYONET
United States Navy Mark I training bayonet, 16 in. blade and 20.5 in. overall. The blade is well marked ‘S A 1918', with the ordnance emblem at the ricasso, and ‘US 523892' on the reverse ricasso. The blade bears a notable dent at the top left edge, else very good. This World War I bayonet is housed within a World War II scabbard, marked ‘USN MK 1', of green fiberglass construction. It was common for these World War I bayonets to be reissued with these World War II scabbards for training with the U.S. Navy Mark 1 Dummy Training Rifle. SOLD WITH: two pocket-size Army manuals, includes: ‘Basic Field Manual Soldier's Handbook', dated July 23, 1941, and ‘Technical Manual Army Instruction', dated April 19, 1943.
