Interesting lot of ten pieces of ephemera, ca. 1960's-70's, related to the United Klans of America, includes: printed flier, 1p. 4to., advertising an ‘America for Americans March & Rally' at Atlanta, June 4 [n.y.]. The flier is illustrated with an image of an American flag, and reads in small part: ‘The Communists Have Marched Long Enough – It's Time For Americans To March… March for America in support of our troops in Viet-Nam and against the betrayal of our fighting forces by Anti-Christ, Communist sympathizers here in America…' Mildly toned, else very good. WITH: UKA pamphlet, 4pp. 8vo., ‘The Fiery Cross Bulletin: An Introduction to the United Klans of America, Inc. Knights of the Ku Klux Klan'; UKA pamphlet, 6pp. 12mo., ‘Why You Should Become A Klansman'; UKA pamphlet, 4pp. 8vo., ‘Some Questions That Need Straight Answers', an attack on the National Council of Churches and their support for the civil rights movement; UKA leaflet, 3.5 x 10 in., ‘Abraham Lincoln Speaks', reprinting several pro-segregation quotes; printed pamphlet, 7pp. 8vo., ‘The Practice of Klannishness'; printed leaflet, 2pp. 8vo., ‘Wake Up America!' attacking the anti-Vietnam War movement on the recto, and railing against miscegenation and Judaism on the verso; UKA ‘Application for Citizenship in the Klan Youth Corp. Youths of the Ku Klux Klan', 1p. oblong 8vo.; UKA robe order form, 1p. 8vo.; and a UKA $1.00 donation receipt. All in fine condition except where noted. Ten pieces. The United Klans of America was the largest and most active Ku Klux Klan organization during the Civil Rights era, and was implicated in numerous crimes, including the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, the murder of civil rights activist Viola Liuzzo, and the lynching of Michael Donald. The group was sued out of existence by Donald's family and ceased operations in 1987.
