The broadside's headlines declare: "GLORIOUS NEWS...PETERSBURG EVACUATED...RICHMOND CAPTURED!...VICTORY! REBELLION BROKEN!...RICHMOND ON FIRE!". Included are five announcements signed in type by Abraham Lincoln setting forth developments as they occurred, with additional news submitted by Secretary of War Edwin Stanton. This is news as it happened, and must have thrown its readers into a frenzy!
