A.L.S. of Sgt. Benjamin F. Barrows of the 3rd New Hampshire, 3pp. 8vo., Port Royal, Feb. 2, 1862 writing on a sexual encounter between a company's cook and a black woman: "...A sergeant of Co. E. now head cook for the staff was caught in bed with a nigger wench that was sick with the measles down at the Generals quarters his stripes were taken off and he is now under guard I heard this morning he was to be court marshaled...we expected to leave here last week and I was in hopes we should for the niggers say the mud is knee deep the last of this month...". With original patriotic transmittal envelope. Usual folds, else fine condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
