Marsh writes his cousin: we have orders to be ready in a moments orders... rebels are trying to come over on this side of the Rappahannock we will give them fire under their shirt tails... they have [caught] 16 Rebels yesterday. They came over... to spike our guns... we have a great many pickets out along the river. .
