This heavy board booklet, 4pp. 8vo., is numbered #2478 and shows that in 1865 Pvt. Dornan is due $70.00 by the government for his enlistment. The verso of the booklet assures the depositor that, in part: "...after arriving at his regiment, the soldier may claim payment...showing in his check-book...he shall take the whole amount or none...this check-book should be carefully preserved...".
