Includes: HENRY EAGLE (1801-1882) Commander of the gunboat USS MONTICELLO, which made the first naval attack of the Civil War against a battery at Sewall's Point, Virginia. Partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., New York Navy Yard, May 1, 1857, acknowledging the receipt of $147.74 in pay from a purser. He signs at the bottom right in black ink. Shows slight toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: JOHN W. LIVINGSTON (1804-1885) Commander of the USS CUMBERLAND until shortly before its destruction by the Confederate ironclad VIRGINIA. Partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., New York Navy Yard, Dec. 1, 1857, acknowledging the receipt of $124.68 in pay from a purser. Shows slight toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: EDWARD MIDDLETON (1810-1883) Career Navy officer who remained with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific rather than join family in the Confederacy. Partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., New York Navy Yard, March 1, 1858, acknowledging the receipt of $91.86 in pay from a purser. Middleton signs at the conclusion in black ink. Very good. WITH: HENRY W. MORRIS (1806-1863) Commander of the steam sloop USS PENSACOLA during the attacks of Forts Jackson and St. Philip, and the capture of New Orleans. Partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., New York Navy Yard, Feb. 1, 1860, acknowledging the receipt of $152.67 in pay from a purser. Very good. WITH: WILLIAM F. SPICER (1820-1878) Commander of the gunboat USS CAMBRIDGE on blockade duty and during attacks on Fort Fisher. Partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., New York Navy Yard, May 1, 1850, acknowledging the receipt of $49.11 in pay from a purser. Very good. Five pieces.
