UNION GENERALS (7)
A fine group of seven Union general signatures in various formats (noted). Includes: EDWARD O. C. ORD (1818-1883) major general severely wounded in the assault on Van Dorn at Corinth, also active at Vicksburg and Richmond. A.L.S. 1878 to his daughter, signed ‘P' for ‘Papa'. Cross scribed on verso, cellophane tape at right edge, fair; JOHN R. LOGAN (1826-1886) major general whose successes at Belmont and Atlanta won him the praises of Grant and Sherman. He also founded Memorial Day. Bold signature on a card, mounted; RUFUS INGALLS (1818-1893) brigadier general, Chief Quartermaster of the Army of the Potomac. Under Grant, he became Quartermaster General of all forces around Richmond. War-date A.L.S. 1862, regarding forage; RUSH HAWKINS (1831-1920) Union brevet brigadier general who raised the 9th NY Vols. (‘Hawkins' Zouaves') and played an important part in the capture of Hatteras Inlet, Roanoke and Winton. Brief A.L.S. undated, sending enclosures (not present). Very good; EDWARD HATCH (1832-1889) brigadier general of cavalry who fought under Grierson at Franklin and Nashville. Partly-printed D.S. 1873, a voucher concerning a leave of absence; CHARLES GRIFFIN (1825-1867) major general who fought from Bull Run to Appomattox, leading a division at Gettysburg and in the pursuit of Lee after Petersburg. A.L.S. July 1865, a covering letter for a monthly return (not present); ROBERT S. GRANGER (1816-1894) brigadier general involved in the expulsion of Wheeler in Tennessee, defense against Forrest's raid, and defended Decatur against Hood. A war-date discharge 1862, badly damp stained, worn and toned. Seven pieces.

International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
