A fine group of seven signatures of noted Union generals, includes: JOHN G. HAZARD (1832-1897) Union brevet brigadier general who commanded an artillery brigade in the Army of the Potomac from 1863 (including at the battle of Gettysburg) until the end of the war. A.E.S. on a sm. 8vo. sheet taken from a larger document, in full: ‘Hd Qrs. Arty. Brigade…Oct. 21, 1864. The application is approved…Jno. G. Hazard Maj. Genl.'. Very good. WITH: JOHN L. HENRICKSON (1833-1902) Union brevet brigadier general, wounded in action at Fredericksburg resulting in the amputation of his leg. Franking signature adding rank on a small slip with red postal cancel lightly intruding. WITH: THOMAS J. HENDERSON (1824-1911) Union brevet brigadier general, led his brigade at the Battle of Wilmington. Signature on a small album sheet adding ‘Princeton, Illinois'. Very good. WITH: ISAAC R. HAWKINS (1818-1880) Union colonel, wounded at the Battle of Resaca, and later Congressman. Signature adding ‘Huntington, Tennessee', penned on an album page. Fine. WITH: FRANCIS E. HEATH (1838-1897) Union brevet brigadier general, led his regiment at Gettysburg. Signature adding ‘Col. Comdg', penned on a tiny slip taken from a larger document. One foxed spot, otherwise very good. WITH: WILLIAM HAWLEY (1824-1873) Union brevet brigadier general, led at Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Atlanta, Sherman's March to the Sea and the Carolinas campaign. War-date E.S. on verso of a 1p. 4to. request for a furlough, ‘Near Louisville KY', June 21, 1863. Significant fold split, not affecting signature, otherwise very good. WITH: EDWIN L. HAYES (1819-1917) Union brevet brigadier general, colonel and commander of the 100th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Signature adding his address, penned in a shaky hand on an oblong 8vo. lined sheet. Very good. Seven pieces.
